“We have time. Every day Frodo moves closer to Mordor”-Aragon
On Tuesday the New York Times published an Op Ed titled “Crashing the Tea Party”. This rambling piece of gibberish was penned by elitist members of the realm of Academia; the same vaunted institutions that spawned the Dark Lord and his minions now attempting to force their Marxist ideology on the Hobbits of the Shire.
The professors, Campbell and Putnam, begin their fairy tale by stating the Tea Party is increasingly swimming against the tide of public opinion among most Americans and our brand is becoming toxic. They arrived at these conclusions using polls conducted by the New York Times/CBS News. Given the high self esteem in which Academics hold themselves, one would assume they would have used a more credible source. Really, the New York Times and CBS News? How about a poll on how many Americans, other than the liberal elite, actually read the Times or watch CBS News. The toxic swimming against the tide tea parties are adding new groups and new members daily.
These gentlemen state the Tea Party is even less popular than 23 other groups, among them “atheists” and “Muslims”, but the Christian Right is almost as unpopular. Are you grasping the big picture here, Hobbits? Two far left organizations poll people of their choosing and use it to attack those who hold Christian beliefs. They constantly try to dissuade Americans, particularly our young people, of the notion our country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs. “One Nation Under God” and “In God We Trust” are mere figments of our imagination, This Hobbit has never been contacted by these people to voice my opinion. How about the rest of you? It’s also interesting to note they use “Muslims”, not “Islamists”.
The article continues on to state “the strange thing is that over the last five years, Americans have moved in an economically conservative direction; they are more likely to favor smaller government, to oppose redistribution of income and to favor private charities over government to aid the poor”; then says none of these opinions are held by a majority of Americans. Now I’m not a lofty Academic, but if the majority of Americans do not hold these opinions, how is it we are moving in a more economically conservative direction in America? It amounts to nothing more than the same incredibly stupid double speak uttered by elitist, leftist Academics with an overrated opinion of themselves.

Phoenix, AZ – August 15, 2011 – Officers of The Arizona 2012 Project will meet outside City Hall at 10:30AM this morning to hand deliver a letter advising the Mayor that the City will be in violation of Arizona law if tonight’s televised Mayoral debate goes on as scheduled. By providing the venue for the debate, organized by the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and KPHO-TV – the City of Phoenix will be at odds with State law – due to the exclusion of two ballot-qualified candidates, Anna Brennan and Jennifer Wright.

Senator Russell Pearce at the “Phoenix 912 Event”, T.E.A. Party, on September 12, 2009 at the Arizona State Capital.
Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce (R) is not yet a household name. Most Americans are unaware that he is one of the leaders fighting to have states enforce the rule of law regarding illegal immigrants. He has been at the forefront of this issue for the last twenty-five years but currently is facing a recall battle. American Thinker interviewed Senator Pearce and other political figures about the recall and illegal immigration.
He is a fifth-generation Arizonian shot in the line of duty while serving as a sheriff’s deputy, has authored bills that provide tax relief, and has been honored for his contributions to public education. However, his new prominence comes from the work done in fighting illegal immigration. Among illegal immigration bills authored in Arizona: Proposition 200, requiring proof of citizenship to vote and a legal US presence to obtain public benefits; Prop 100 that prevents illegals committing serious crimes to get released on bond; Prop 102 that will not allow illegals to receive punitive damages; Prop 103 that makes English the official language of Arizona; the Fair and Legal Employment Act, allowing the state of Arizona to impose sanctions on those employers who hire illegal aliens; and SB 1070 signed into law in April, 2010. All of these bills were passed overwhelmingly by over 70% of the vote with a support of over 60% of the Latino vote.
Four of the ten elements of 1070 are being enjoined in the appellate court including the provision that requires law enforcement to check a person’s immigration status after committing a violation of the law — even though the bill stipulates “a person is presumed to be lawfully present if the person provides a valid Arizona drivers license or identification license or a valid federal or state issued identification.”

FNC - May 22: Herman Cain, the former CEO of Godfather's Pizza, on "Fox News Sunday."
Mitt Romney may be at the top of Republican presidential preference polls, but traditional campaign models are not going to guarantee the nominee this presidential season, candidate Herman Cain said Sunday.
Cain, the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, argued that his recent catapult in the polls is the product of a strategy to create buzz among nontraditional media and social forces.
“There are two dynamics that have changed the political landscape — the power of the Internet, as well as the citizens’ Tea Party movement. Those dynamics neutralizes having the most amount of money,” he said.
He added that establishment Republicans like Karl Rove and Charles Krauthammer have earned his respect, but they are using an old playbook.

Jennifer Wright is a Phoenix native, economist, constitutional lawyer, and activist. With a background in policy, developing efficiencies, and working with nonprofits to do more with less, Jennifer brings a unique skill set to the City government. Simply stated, Jennifer has the right principles to get Phoenix back in business. Focusing on Jobs and Opportunities, Safety and Security, and Fiscal Responsibility, Jennifer will secure essential city services while closely examining nonessential services and rooting out administrative waste. She will look at ways to reduce regulatory burdens and reduce taxes so that business can build, grow, and thrive once again in the Valley. As an outsider, Jennifer’s “special” interest will be the interests of the taxpayer.

Herman Cain announces his run for Republican candidate for president at a rally Saturday, May 21, 2011 in Atlanta. (AP)
Tea Party favorite Herman Cain announced his long-shot presidential candidacy to a raucous crowd in Atlanta Saturday, yelling, “I’m running for president of the United States and I’m not running for second.”
At a rally attended by thousands, the businessman, author and talk radio show host showed he knows how to wow a conservative gathering. The crowd chanted, “Herman, Herman, Herman,” as Cain unleashed the same soaring rhetoric and relentless attacks on President Obama that has created buzz in recent weeks.
“Let me tell you some of the reasons why I’m running for president of the United States. We have become a nation of crises,” he said, citing morals, the economy, entitlement spending, immigration and foreign affairs as among the crises facing the nation.
“And we’ve got a deficiency of leadership crisis in the White House,” he said to roaring cheers.
Now the 65-year-old Republican will see if he can use that grass-roots enthusiasm to turn a long-shot presidential campaign into a credible bid.
Cain has been introducing himself to voters during months of traveling around the country.
Cain supports a strong national defense, opposes abortion, backs replacing the federal income tax with a national sales tax and favors a return to the gold standard.

Some tea party groups apparently do not believe the old adage, “We’re from the government and we’re here to help you.”
In a statement issued Friday, representatives of several of the organizations said a new law creating a “tea party” license plate is “well-intentioned.” Those who want the plate would pay an extra $25 a year, with $17 of that going to organizations that promote tea party principles of fiscal responsibility, limited governments and free markets.
But what really seems to provide the most heartburn is that the cash collected will be doled out by a committee whose members are appointed by politicians.
“Basically, we do not want to take money and divvy it out through the government,” Vera Anderson, leader of the Daisy Mountain Tea Party Patriots told Capitol Media Services. “That’s not what we’re all about.”
Valerie Roller, representing Tea Party Patriots of Glendale, was more direct in her own prepared statement about the pitfalls of the law, calling its structure “vulnerable to self-serving individuals who may be appointed.” And she said there is a “potential (for) misappropriation of funds” to be used for purposes beyond the legislation.
“These tea party license plates have result in more government, not less,” she said.
