FYI, for those will be attending and voting at the state party organizational meeting, January 22.
Randy Pullen won’t seek another term as chairman of the Arizona Republican Party after a shocking loss in his re-election bid for state committeeman.
Pullen, who has served as chairman since 2007, announced Nov. 18 on Twitter that he wouldn’t run for a third term.
“I will not seek re-election as AZ GOP chairman on Jan. 22. It has been an honor to serve these past four years as chairman. God bless,” Pullen wrote on his Twitter account.
The loss stunned Arizona’s Republican establishment. Pullen has been a controversial chairman due to what many complained was his lackluster fundraising and his vocal criticism of Sen. John McCain, which led McCain to divert money from the Republican National Committee to the Yuma County GOP instead of the state party.
But supporters also gave Pullen some of the credit for the recent election, in which Republicans ousted two Democratic incumbents in congressional races, swept the slate of statewide offices and gained supermajorities in both chambers of the Legislature.
Maricopa County GOP Chairman Rob Haney, who also lost his bid for state committeeman, blamed allies of McCain and Sen. Jon Kyl for his and Pullen’s losses.
“It shouldn’t have been (a surprise). McCain forces are at work,” said Haney, who said he plans to run for another term as county chairman. “We’re about the tea party movement from the grassroots. The heirarchy did not want to respond to the grassroots.”

Oh! The scandal of it all! A contested Primary and the Maricopa County Republicans are having JD Hayworth speak at their annual Lincoln Day Luncheon WITHOUT inviting Jim Deakin or Senator McCain! For Shame! For Shame!
This was the newest bone of contention to rile the august body of Republicans at last night’s (Thursday, April 1st) Maricopa County Monthly EGC Meeting. The McCain people were unhappy because of what they claim appears to be an endorsement of JD Hayworth over incumbent Senator, John McCain.
One member of the council raised the issue under new business and quoted the by-laws prohibiting anyone on the council from endorsing anyone in a contested primary on behalf of the council without a 60% approval vote by the council. This council member then attempted to one up the by-laws by calling for the council to raise this threshold to NEVER endorse anyone in a contested primary. The motion was declared out of order which started another fight over the authority of the Chairman to declare a motion out of order. A roll-call vote was taken and passed in the Chairman’s favor (10 – 8, ~5 abstaining).

Dear Governor Palin,
My name is Elizabeth O’kon. I am the proud wife of SPC. Jason O’kon. I have a story I would like to share with you. My husband served in Iraq in 2005 with the 73rd Engineers, in the Stryker Brigade. I remember him coming home on R and R and telling me how terrified and afraid he was that he believed he was coming home in a box. That he wouldn’t survive.

Over the past week, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has rolled out a list of blue-chip GOP political endorsements in his primary contest against challenger J.D. Hayworth — and his campaign said more are on the way.
It’s part of a concerted effort to remind primary voters of his stature, as well as an attempt to undercut Hayworth’s claim to be the conservative candidate in the Aug. 24 primary before his challenger can gain any traction.
To neutralize Hayworth’s claim on tea party movement voters, McCain has unveiled his backing from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and newly minted Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) — both plan to stump on his behalf. Read the rest.

Most are familiar with those commercials on television promoting prescription drugs that supposedly offer relief from a variety of ailments, if one would only pressure one’s doctor to obtain them. They have become a source of great entertainment and amusement to some, the kicker coming at the end of each commercial when the FDA-approved medication’s obligatory litany of warnings and dangerous side effects is recited: “Tell your doctor if….” and “Side effects may include…..” Some of the warnings are mild like diarrhea and constipation, some list serious effects like cancer or tuberculosis, and others admit that sometimes even death can result.
The point here is that these are all FDA-approved drugs being advertised and used extensively. Drugs that can cause serious diseases like lymphoma. Drugs that can kill. The FDA’s dismal safety record is well documented; even PBS ran a Frontline special that investigated and exposed the FDA’s unsafe drug record, the influence of Big Pharma inside the FDA, and lack of long-term testing and medical review of many, many dangerous drugs. The FDA seldom removes a drug from the market even after it proves to be harmful or deadly, however they do post quarterly reports with details of the latest potentially dangerous side effects of drugs currently under investigation.
