The Executive Guidance Committee (EGC) of the Maricopa County Republican Committee (MCRC) has taken the following positions on the Propositions which will appear on the November 6 ballot. (In meeting 10/4)
The EGC consists of 20 Legislative District Chairmen, 5 Members-at-Large & 5 Officers who are elected by and represent the Precinct Committeemen (PCs) in their Legislative Districts in Maricopa County. The EGC is the Internal Party Governing Board of the Maricopa County Republican Party. One member of the EGC was not present for the vote. (NR below means no recommendation)

115 – 14 Y, 2 N, 13 NR…….….Selection & Retention of Judges — Reduces the influence of lawyers in appointment process, increases pool of candidates, requires judges’ orders be published for voters to have info when voting on retention, increases term of office to 8 years & requires retirement at 75 instead of 70.
116 29 Y……………… ………….Small Business Job Creation Act — Reduces tax on inventory of business equipment & machinery.
117 – 0 Y, 15 N, 14 NR……..…Change Property Tax Assessment Method — opposing claims that it may reduce property taxes or increase property taxes.
118 – 29 Y……………………..…..Improve method of Revenue Distribution from State Land Trust Endowment Fund.
119 – 20 Y, 1 N, 8 NR……….…Improve method of exchanging State Trust Land – Allow for buffer of military installations & land exchanges only with safeguard of Nov State – wide ballot approval
120 – 28 Y, 1 N…………..………State Sovereignty over State Land — Affirms AZ sovereignty over public lands & resources within its borders over Fed Gov claims.
121 – 29 N, 0 Y.………..………..Only Top Two Candidates in primary advance – Eliminates method of electing candidates that has been in place for centuries, & replaces it with an unproven system shown to be problematic in other states, eliminates PCs.
