228 Ballots Cast Straw Poll – Candidates and Issues

Do you agree or disagree with the following opinions:

Role of the Party – A: One of our U.S. Senators from Arizona has stated: “It is not a proper role for Republican Party officials(precinct committeemen, district, county, state and national party officials) to declare stances on issues. The Party exists to get Republicans elected, support candidates, raise money, and register voters; not declare stances on issues.” (Issues would be items such as comprehensive immigration reform, campaign finance reform, closing gun shows, global warming, cap and trade, closing Guantanamo terrorist camp, trying terroristsin US courts with the rights of US citizens, no drilling for oil in the US and no requirement of proof of US citizenship to register to vote.) Select Agree or Disagree for this item on the ballot.

Role of the Party – B: It is a proper role for Republican Party officials to declare stances on issues, especially when the issues being advocated are proposed by an electedRepublicanoffice holder but favored by a large majority of Democratsand opposed by a large majority of Republicans. If Republican officials work against Republican principles, partyactivists are the only citizens remaining who have the politicalperspective to opposethe issue favored by the liberal Democrat Party. Select Agree or Disagree for this item on the ballot.

Big Tent: One of our US Senators from Arizona has said: “The state party should welcome anyone who’s willing to put an “R” by their name.” Select Agree or Disagree for this item on the ballot.

Taxes: One of our U.S. Senators from Arizona is quoted as saying: “If you are for the tax cut or against the tax cut, as far as the state party is concerned, that doesn’t matter to us.” (i.e. If you want to be a Republican, your position on taxes shouldn’t matter to us.) Select Agree or Disagree for this item on the ballot.

Decline in GOP Prestige: In the last few years, Independent and Democrat party registrations and elected officials have significantly increased in number whereas numbers of Republican registrations and elected officials have declined. Who do you believe is more responsible for this trend?

Politicians:Elected Republican office holders whose actions and legislationhave angered the conservative Republican base to such a degree that they leave the party in disgust, refuse to donate funds and may even decline to vote.

Party Workers: Precinct Committeemen, District, County, State and National party officialsfor failing to registerRepublicans, failing to get out the vote and failing to preventRepublicans from changingparty affiliation.

Select Politicians or Party Workers for this item on the ballot.

Do you agree or disagree with the following opinions on illegal immigration.

Immigration – A: If Republican activists do not speak out and demand that politicians address the invasion of the US by unassimilated illegal aliens, our schools, hospitals, government, and law abiding society will continue to decay due to the importation of a culture of corruption. We are in serious danger of becoming just one more fallen republic due to the failure of political leadersto adhere to the principles designed by our Founding Fathers. Select Agree or Disagree for this item on the ballot.

Immigration – B:A member of the Arizona Congressional Delegation has stated: “The Republican Party in Arizona has been hurt very badly by the image created by those who have been most outspoken intheir attacks on the illegal immigration issue. They have created the appearance that Republicans are xenophobic and intolerant. Select Agree or Disagree for this item on the ballot.

Primary Elections: A recently proposed election plan, (“Victory2010”), called for reelecting all current AZ federal office holders as one of the Republican Party’s top goals for 2010 In other words, we should not support primary challengers to incumbent Republicans in federal elections. Select Agree or Disagree for this item on the ballot.
