Maricopa County Republicans Elect
A. J. LaFaro as New Chairman
Team of New Conservative Leadership Elected by County’s Grassroots Republicans
PHOENIX - On Saturday, nearly one thousand Republican Precinct Committeemen gathered to elect new leadership for the Maricopa County Republican Committee. The committee is the official Republican Party organization for Maricopa County and was created by state law. The following officers, all conservatives and longtime party activists, were elected:
April Riggins, First Vice Chairman
Jose Borrajero, Second Vice Chairman
Jeni White, Secretary
David Ludwig, Treasurer
“We deeply appreciate the trust that has been placed in us, and now we will work to honor it with all precinct committeemen,” said Chairman LaFaro. “The Republican Party is full of passionate individuals who love their country and their state. We look forward to working with them to strengthen our Party, support our candidates, and promote the winning Republican platform and the values it represents.”
The Republican Party is the largest political party in both the state and Maricopa County. Of Arizona’s 1.1 million Republicans, more than 60 percent live in Maricopa County, which divides its 685,627 registered Republicans into 724 precincts, each of which elects local precinct committeemen at the general election every two years. Those local leaders meet each January following the election to select leadership. The outgoing chairman is Rob Haney who was first elected in 2008 and again in 2010.
The Maricopa County Republican Committee’s next executive meeting will include a listening/brainstorming session with Legislative District Chairmen to identify their immediate and long-term priorities.
