Maricopa County Treasurer Charles “Hos” Hoskins announced that the 2010 property tax bills will soon be in the mail, and said you should not be surprised if your tax bill goes up, even though the assessed value of your property, as determined by the County Assessor, may have gone down.
Property owners can view a more detailed copy of their tax bill on the County Treasurer’s website at: http://treasurer.maricopa.gov.
Hoskins explained that it is impossible to generalize, based on the assessed value of a particular property, how much the property tax bill will be, because, among other things, that depends on where you live. The taxing jurisdictions, county, cities, schools and special districts, you live in determine your specific tax rate. And, such things as school bonding and budget overrides that voters in your school district approved are also included.
